The Igbo Agenda is a collective framework designed to articulate the political direction, economic aspirations, and civic responsibilities of the Igbo Nation. It is a structured response to decades of fragmentation, marginalisation, and inconsistent engagement in Nigeria’s political landscape.
It provides a clear, organised, and principled roadmap for how Ndigbo will engage with Nigeria — not as divided groups, but as one coherent and respected national force.
For over 50 years since the end of the civil war, the Igbo Nation has lacked a unified and widely accepted political agenda. As a result, our strengths — population, economic vibrancy, intellectual capacity, and geographical presence — have not translated into proportional political power.
The Igbo Agenda seeks to correct this by:
Rebuilding unity across party, regional, and ideological lines
Creating a non-partisan platform for collective decision-making
Establishing long-term political clarity
Restoring the dignity and influence of Ndigbo
Mobilising participation from Igbo communities across Nigeria and the diaspora
This Agenda is not against any group.
It is a structured effort for the advancement of Ndigbo.
The Igbo Agenda Dialogue (IAD) does not compete with Ohanaeze Ndigbo Worldwide.
It complements it.
Ohanaeze remains the apex sociocultural organisation of Ndigbo.
The Igbo Agenda simply focuses on political, economic, and civic organisation, providing the strategic depth and research-based framework needed for effective engagement in the evolving Nigerian political system.
Create a strong, collective, and respected Igbo presence in national politics, ending decades of fragmentation.
Develop a documented blueprint that guides political behaviour, alliances, negotiations, and expectations.
Ensure that Igbo support is earned through negotiated Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs), not assumed or taken for granted.
Harness Igbo entrepreneurial strength into a structured platform of trade, investment, and prosperity.
Boost voter turnout, political education, and engagement across all communities where Igbos live.
This Agenda is designed for:
Political leaders
Town unions
Market associations
Professionals & technocrats
Intellectuals & academics
Women & youth groups
Diaspora communities
Entrepreneurs & business owners
Faith-based groups
Community stakeholders
No voice is too small.
No stakeholder is excluded.
Every Igbo person has a role.
Nigeria’s political and economic realities demand a more organised Igbo response.
With the Igbo population spread across every state and a strong voting presence, Ndigbo now have the opportunity to shape national direction — if united and coordinated.
The Igbo Agenda is the mechanism for that unity.
It cuts across all political parties.
Focused on long-term impact, not election cycles.
Designed through dialogue, historical analysis, and stakeholder consultations.
Driven by grassroots participation, not elite decisions.
Guided by clear documents, charters, and communication channels.
The Igbo Agenda lays the foundation for:
The Igbo Charter
The Igbo Political Summit
Regional consultations
Stakeholder forums
Youth & women mobilisation
Stronger Igbo bargaining power in national politics
A revitalised sense of identity, dignity, and purpose
This is more than a document.
It is the beginning of a new era — one where Ndigbo reclaim their rightful place with unity, wisdom, and strategy.
